YMHA/JCC Troop 26

Long Nights at the JCC Cloak Room

Most scout troops raised funds to support their troop activities by conducting paper drives, or selling light bulbs, magazines, donuts, or holding raffles. I recall being involved in all of those activities. After moving into the JCC on Jefferson Ave., Troop 26 was offered the opportunity to raise money by manning the JCC cloak room during the JCCs many evening social events. Reserved for older scouts and younger scouts who volunteered, the scouts took turns hanging up coats and handing out numbered receipts to those who used the coat room. Joe Epstein was always there to supervise the scouts and to help out throughout the beginning and closing stampede.
