About JCC Troop 26

Boy Scout Troop 26 had a long and rich history. It was initially sponsored by the Young Man’s Hebrew Association (YMHA) located on the corner of Wyoming Ave. and Vine St. and then moved to its new home in 1957 to the newly built Jewish Community Center (JCC) located on the corner of Jefferson Ave. and Olive St. While housed in the YMHA, Troop 26 obtained many of its members from Cub Pack 26. Members of the scout troop were able to use the Y’s two-lane bowling alley, gym facilities with its basketball court, punching bag and weight room, and the swimming pool and shower room. Although both Troop 26 and Cub Pack 26 were sponsored by a Jewish Civic Organization, its membership was open to boys of all faiths.
